A gathering in Springfield, Virginia, on March 2, 2019, turned tragic, ending the life of 40-year-old Floridalma Youlanda Perez Diaz. What began as a social event at a private residence devolved into a violent altercation that resulted in three deaths.
An argument erupted involving Perez Diaz and her 45-year-old husband, Santos Vladimir Ralda. In a sudden escalation, Ralda produced a firearm and shot his wife. He also fatally shot another attendee, 20-year-old Nathanael Owen Cooper of Culloden, West Virginia.
After shooting Perez Diaz and Cooper, Santos Vladimir Ralda then took his own life with the firearm. Fairfax County Police responded to the scene and found the three individuals deceased. Investigators determined that the incident was a murder-suicide, with Ralda identified as the sole perpetrator. The case was closed as the suspect was also deceased.
