On April 27, 2023, in Springfield, Virginia, 38-year-old Meskerem Belachew Solomon was found deceased alongside her brother, 31-year-old Amanuel Belachew Solomon, and her husband, 47-year-old Tiku Berhane Gebreeyesus. The Fairfax County Police Department responded to a 911 call from the family's housekeeper, who discovered the bodies in the basement of their residence on Wild Spruce Drive. All three individuals had sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body.
