In the late hours of a spring evening in Richmond, Virginia, the life of 37-year-old Jerson Stamean White, a Black/African American male, was brought to a sudden and violent end. On Sunday, May 26, 2019, in an alley located in the 2000 block of Parkwood Avenue, near Meadow Street, White was shot. He was discovered in the alley and rushed to a local hospital, but the injuries he sustained proved to be fatal, and he succumbed to them shortly after arrival.
Born on June 30, 1981, Jerson was
a native of Richmond and had attended Henrico County Public Schools. He later pursued vocational training at the Advance Technology Institute in Virginia Beach, where he earned certificates in Heating and Air Conditioning, as well as in electrical work. Known affectionately as "Boo Jenk" to his friends and family, he was described as a person who was loved by everyone he came into contact with. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the Portland Trail Blazers.
In the wake of the shooting, the Richmond Police Department launched a homicide investigation to piece together the events that led to White's death and to identify the person or persons responsible. However, despite their efforts and pleas to the community for information, the case has grown cold. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Jerson White, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The lack of resolution has left his loved ones grappling with unanswered questions and a continued search for justice.
