In the early morning hours of July 21, 2019, the life of Salonya Marsha “Dee” Evans, a 24-year-old Black woman, was tragically cut short in Roanoke, Virginia. A compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Evans was found with a gunshot wound on the sidewalk outside a residence in the 900 block of Morehead Avenue SE.
