On the evening of September 16, 2019, tragedy struck in Richmond, Virginia, claiming the life of 23-year-old Davonte Shaquan Stovall. A Black male, Davonte was a hardworking father of two young sons, Jamez and Kylie, employed in demolition and construction to provide for his family. His life was abruptly cut short in a shooting that has left a lasting void in the lives of his loved ones.
At approximately 8:50 p.m., Richmond Police were called to the 2300 block of Selden Street following
reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Davonte Stovall on the sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The investigation into Davonte Stovall's homicide was immediately launched by the Richmond Police Department. Despite receiving some information regarding the case, detectives have yet to make any arrests. The case remains open, and the authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that could lead to a breakthrough in the investigation. Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers has offered a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest, hoping to bring justice to Davonte's family and hold the perpetrator accountable for this senseless act of violence.
