In the quiet town of Warrenton, Virginia, the life of 27-year-old Fabian Jorge Sosa was tragically cut short on the morning of January 8, 2020. Sosa, a White / Caucasian male, was fatally shot in the back while he slept in his apartment during a meticulously planned armed robbery that was orchestrated by a former roommate. Two other individuals in the apartment were also injured during the violent home invasion.

The plot was masterminded by Emily Race, who had previously lived with Sosa and was familiar with his routines and the layout of his home. She enlisted the help of three accomplices: Jaden Staples, Antonio Ogburn, and Alexander Golden. Armed with the inside knowledge provided by Race, including the alleged presence of narcotics and cash, the group targeted Sosa's residence. On that fateful morning, Race gained entry to the apartment under the guise of a friendly visit. Once inside, she unlocked the door, signaling for her co-conspirators to enter and carry out the robbery.

The situation quickly escalated to brutal violence. One of the other occupants was held at gunpoint and subsequently shot. Antonio Ogburn proceeded to the bedroom where Fabian Sosa was sleeping and shot him in the back. The assailants then fled the scene, but their freedom was short-lived as law enforcement swiftly apprehended them.

The ensuing legal proceedings brought the full scope of the conspiracy to light, revealing Race as the central figure who planned the deadly robbery. In Fauquier County Circuit Court, all four individuals faced justice for their roles in the murder of Fabian Sosa. Emily Race, identified as the orchestrator, was sentenced to life in prison on May 10, 2021. Her co-defendants also received substantial sentences for their participation in the crime. Jaden Staples and Antonio Ogburn were each sentenced to life in prison, while Alexander Golden received a 68-year sentence.
