In the early hours of a Tuesday in Petersburg, Virginia, the life of Sean Allan Bassette, a 40-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short. On April 14, 2020, at approximately 12:23 a.m., police responded to a call on the 1700 block of South Sycamore Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Bassette suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported him to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he succumbed to them later that day.
Affectionately known as 'Redman,' Sean Bassette was a resident of Chesterfield, Virginia. He was a father to three children, a daughter and two sons.
The investigation into his death is ongoing. To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the shooting, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The Petersburg Police Department has encouraged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and contact the Petersburg/Dinwiddie Crime Solvers as they continue to seek justice for Sean Allan Bassette.
