In the early evening of May 2, 2022, a distressing discovery was made in the parking lot of the Montpelier Shoppes in Hanover County, Virginia. An adult male, later identified as 81-year-old John Slaw of Montpelier, was found unconscious on the ground next to a vehicle. The call came in to Hanover County deputies at approximately 6:09 p.m., drawing them to the 16000 block of Mountain Road.
