In the quiet community of Triangle, Virginia, a family tragedy unfolded, leaving a father dead and a daughter's ex-boyfriend facing a lifetime behind bars. Miles Tracey Hall, a 52-year-old man, was shot and killed on the evening of May 15, 2022, in a parking lot on Tavern Way. The incident added to a string of violence that had recently plagued Prince William County.
Authorities were called to the scene around 9 p.m., where they discovered Hall suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the immediate medical aid provided by officers, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing an SUV speeding away from the area shortly after.
The investigation into Hall's death led to the arrest of Devlon Crew-Hamilton. The motive for the fatal confrontation was a dispute over money. Prosecutors revealed that Crew-Hamilton had gone to Hall's residence to confront him about missing funds that had been raised for the funeral and childcare of Hall's daughter, who had recently passed away. Crew-Hamilton had been in a relationship with Hall's daughter before her death. The argument escalated, and Crew-Hamilton fatally shot Hall in the face.
In September 2023, a jury convicted Devlon Crew-Hamilton for the murder of Miles Tracey Hall. Following the verdict, the Commonwealth's Attorney for Prince William County, Amy Ashworth, stated, 'Justice has been served, and we hope it serves as a reminder that no one is above the law.' The family of Miles Tracey Hall, already grieving the recent loss of his daughter, expressed that the conviction brought a much-needed sense of closure. Crew-Hamilton was scheduled to be sentenced in March 2024 and faced the possibility of up to 43 years in prison.
