In the early morning hours of November 27, 2022, a dispute inside a vehicle traveling along the William F. Stone Highway in the Fieldale/Bassett area of Henry County, Virginia, turned fatal. Andrae Lamont Matthews, a 43-year-old male from Martinsville, was shot multiple times during an altercation. He was driven to SOVAH Health Martinsville with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and cheek.
