In the summer of 1994, a gathering intended for charity turned into a scene of deadly violence in Hackettstown, New Jersey, leading to the death of 23-year-old Diego Vega. On July 17th of that year, members of the Pagan's Motorcycle Club, including Vega, attended a charity picnic organized by the Tri-County MC. Tensions between the rival motorcycle clubs reportedly escalated throughout the day.
The simmering conflict erupted into a brutal brawl that quickly spiraled from fists to more
lethal weapons like knives and firearms. In the ensuing chaos, shots were fired, and when the violence subsided, two men lay dead. Diego Vega was one of them, having been fatally shot during the confrontation. Another member of the Pagans, Glen Ritchie, who was 33 years old, also lost his life in the gun violence.
The altercation left several others injured. A third member of the Pagans, Ron Locke, suffered from gunshot wounds, as did a member of the Tri-County MC, William Johnson. Another Tri-County member, Hank Riger, sustained a severe knife wound to his throat. The incident drew a significant law enforcement response to investigate the deadly clash between the two motorcycle clubs.
