Andre Isiah Motley, a 25-year-old male, was a corrections officer with the Essex County Department of Corrections. Tragically, his life was cut short on March 11, 1995, in Newark, New Jersey. The incident occurred when Motley intervened in a dispute between rival gangs on Wainwright Street. Caught in the crossfire, he was struck by a single gunshot to the back of the head.
