In the early hours of a December morning in 2014, a dispute outside a Newark, New Jersey, go-go bar ended in the tragic death of Tywon Bandy. The 26-year-old male was shot and killed on December 22, 2014, in the vicinity of Fox's Go-Go Bar on Passaic Street. Another individual was also wounded in the shooting incident but survived their injuries.
The fatal encounter is believed to have stemmed from an argument that escalated into violence.
Following the shooting, which occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m., law enforcement was called to the scene. An investigation was launched by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force to piece together the events that led to the deadly shooting and to identify those responsible for Tywon Bandy's death.
In an effort to generate leads, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office turned to the public for assistance in February 2015. They released surveillance photographs of individuals who were believed to have been involved in the incident and were considered persons of interest. To further encourage anyone with information to come forward, the Essex County Sheriff's Crime Stoppers Program offered a financial reward for tips that would lead to an arrest in the case.
Despite these efforts by law enforcement to solve the homicide, there have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the death of Tywon Bandy. The case remains an open investigation, leaving questions about the circumstances of his death and the individuals involved unanswered.
