On the evening of May 25, 2016, Willie Lee Major, a 37-year-old male resident of Plainfield, New Jersey, was fatally shot. The incident occurred shortly after 6:45 p.m. in the 400 block of West 4th Street. Plainfield Police Division patrol units responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Major at the scene, where he was pronounced dead. Investigations later revealed that he was an innocent bystander and not the intended target of the shooting.
