On the night of January 15, 2017, in Willingboro, New Jersey, a sense of unease settled over Placid Lane. At approximately 11 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the evening's quiet, prompting calls to the Willingboro Police Department. When officers arrived, they discovered the body of 22-year-old Nasim Byrd, a male resident of the township. He was found on the ground, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
