On the night of January 15, 2017, in Willingboro, New Jersey, a sense of unease settled over Placid Lane. At approximately 11 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the evening's quiet, prompting calls to the Willingboro Police Department. When officers arrived, they discovered the body of 22-year-old Nasim Byrd, a male resident of the township. He was found on the ground, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored SUV speeding away from the area
immediately following the shooting. Despite this lead, the investigation into Byrd's death has not led to any arrests. His killing is one of several unsolved homicides in Burlington County.
In an effort to bring resolution to these cold cases, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office has offered a monetary reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Nasim Byrd's death. The case remains open and active, a painful and unresolved chapter for his family and the community. Law enforcement continues to seek assistance from the public to piece together the events of that fatal night and bring those responsible to justice.
