In the early evening of February 11, 2022, a dispute inside a vehicle in a Willingboro, New Jersey, shopping center parking lot turned deadly, claiming the life of 19-year-old Adam Janson. The male teenager was found deceased in the parking lot of the Kennedy Plaza on John F. Kennedy Way, in front of a pizza establishment, shortly after 7:30 p.m.
Investigators determined that Janson, a resident of the Burlington area, had entered a vehicle occupied by Knowah Crowderparham, then 21, and
Alexa Hess, then 19. An argument broke out among them, and as Janson attempted to leave the car, he was shot by Crowderparham. Following the shooting, Crowderparham and Hess, who was driving, fled the scene and later attempted to clean the vehicle at a nearby home.
Within days, both suspects were apprehended. Hess, of Burlington City, was taken into custody on February 13 and faced charges including endangering an injured victim, hindering, and tampering with evidence. Crowderparham, a Beverly resident, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and multiple weapons offenses. In October 2023, Crowderparham pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter and hindering apprehension as part of a plea agreement that recommended a 17-year prison sentence.
