On a Sunday evening in Willingboro, New Jersey, 43-year-old Bruce Hall Jr. was fatally shot while sitting in his parked pickup truck. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on August 10, 2025, in the Pennypacker Park section of the township, near the intersection of Paddock Lane and Poppy Turn. When Willingboro Township police officers arrived at the scene following reports of gunfire, they discovered Hall unresponsive inside the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the death of the Trenton resident was conducted by the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and the Willingboro Township Police Department. Initially, no arrests were made, and authorities sought information from the public to help identify who was responsible for the shooting. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed by the Burlington County Medical Examiner.
Within weeks, the investigation led to the identification of three suspects from Willingboro.
The first arrest was made on August 12, when authorities took 33-year-old Elijah B. Ervin into custody. He was followed by 39-year-old Shaheed L. Ervin, who was arrested on August 26. The third suspect, 29-year-old Earl T. Johnson, was apprehended in Philadelphia on September 17. All three men were charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and several weapons offenses. Following their arrests, Elijah and Shaheed Ervin were detained at the Burlington County Jail, while Johnson was held in Philadelphia awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
