In the early morning hours of April 22, 2017, the life of 22-year-old Vincent Horns of Bridgeton, New Jersey, was tragically cut short. A Black / African American male, Horns was discovered lying in the roadway at the intersection of Stewart Avenue and Buckshutem Road in the neighboring community of Fairfield Township. The grim discovery was made by passersby who immediately alerted the authorities.
Responding to the call at approximately 2:53 a.m., New Jersey State Police troopers
arrived at the scene to find Horns with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:27 a.m. The investigation into his death was quickly classified as a homicide, prompting a significant response from law enforcement.
The New Jersey State Police Homicide South Unit, in conjunction with the Troop 'A' Criminal Investigations Office, the Crime Scene Investigations Unit, Bridgeton Station personnel, and the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, launched a comprehensive investigation into the killing. Despite their efforts and appeals to the public for information, the case has remained unsolved. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Vincent Horns. The case has since been designated as a cold case, leaving his family and the community awaiting justice. His funeral service was held on May 2, 2017, as friends and family gathered to mourn the young man's untimely death.
