In the early morning hours of Saturday, June 29, 2019, the life of 25-year-old Saquan Hurling of Linden, New Jersey, was tragically cut short. Police responded to a call on the 500 block of Harrison Street in Rahway, where they discovered Hurling inside a vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Remembered by friends and family as a loving father, his sudden death prompted an immediate and intensive investigation.
The Union County Homicide Task Force, in conjunction with the Rahway Police Department and other county law enforcement agencies, began to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. As the investigation progressed, authorities offered a $10,000 reward for information that would lead to an arrest and indictment in the case, signaling their commitment to bringing justice for Hurling and his family.
The collaborative effort of the various law enforcement units eventually pointed towards a suspect.
In September 2019, a significant development occurred in the case with the arrest of 27-year-old Daymon Duncan-Wilson of Passaic. He was charged with first-degree murder and two related weapons offenses in connection with Hurling's death. Following his arrest by the U.S. Marshals Service in Jersey City, Duncan-Wilson was jailed to await legal proceedings. However, the path to justice took an unexpected turn. In March 2023, after a trial and approximately two days of jury deliberation, Daymon Duncan-Wilson was found not guilty of all charges and was subsequently released from custody.
