In the early hours of a Sunday morning, the life of 21-year-old Donta Mickens, a male resident of Avenel, New Jersey, was tragically cut short. On September 11, 2011, while visiting friends on Waite Street in Rahway, Mickens was shot multiple times. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m., shattering the quiet of the neighborhood and leaving a community in shock. Emergency services responded to the scene, but Mickens succumbed to his injuries.
