On a late Sunday afternoon in Paterson, New Jersey, a dispute between neighbors escalated into deadly violence, claiming the life of 38-year-old Anthony Anglin. On October 27, 2019, outside a residence on Belle Avenue, what began as an argument took a tragic turn around 5:43 p.m. During the course of the dispute, a handgun was produced, and shots were fired, striking both Anthony and another man, Fabian Anglin.
Following the shooting, both men were transported by a private vehicle to St. Joseph's University Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Anthony Anglin succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead at 6:25 p.m. that evening. Fabian Anglin, who was 42 at the time, survived the shooting after being treated for a non-fatal gunshot wound.
The incident prompted an immediate investigation by local law enforcement who arrived at the scene to find that the victims had already been taken to the hospital.
The investigation quickly identified a suspect in the shooting, David Talmadge, who was 26 years old at the time. Authorities determined that the initial argument had been between Talmadge and his mother's downstairs neighbors, which included the two victims. After the shooting, Talmadge fled the scene on foot, sparking a manhunt. He was subsequently charged with murder, attempted murder, and various weapons offenses. For over a year, he remained at large, with law enforcement tracking him to Alabama.
The search for Talmadge concluded on November 18, 2020, when U.S. Marshals located and arrested him at a house in Cherokee County, Georgia. He was taken into custody and held at the local jail, awaiting extradition back to Passaic County to face the charges related to the death of Anthony Anglin and the wounding of Fabian Anglin.
