In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Jersey City, New Jersey, the life of 30-year-old Raven S. Harris was tragically cut short. On February 10, 2021, just before 10:00 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the night in the area of Old Bergen Road and Neptune Avenue. When Jersey City Police Officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a chaotic and grim situation with three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
Raven, along with two men aged 28 and 29, were immediately
transported to Jersey City Medical Center for emergency medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Raven was pronounced dead at approximately 10:30 p.m. The Northern Regional Medical Examiner's Office would later determine her cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds, ruling it a homicide. The two male victims, who were initially in critical condition, were treated for their serious injuries and were eventually released.
For months, the case remained under active investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit, with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. In October 2021, authorities publicly identified Jimmy B. Colclough, a 30-year-old from Newark, as the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest. He was charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, and weapons offenses. The public was cautioned that Colclough should be considered dangerous and not to be approached.
The search for Colclough continued until June 21, 2022, when members of the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested him at a hotel on Paterson Plank Road in Carlstadt. At the age of 31, Colclough was taken into custody and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility to await his first court appearance, bringing a significant development to the investigation into the death of Raven S. Harris.
