On a Saturday evening in Hamilton, New Jersey, the life of 35-year-old Dashawn Womack, a male resident of Trenton, came to a tragic and violent end. On September 25, 2021, at approximately 8:20 p.m., police officers were dispatched to Rosalie Avenue, adjacent to Victor Avenue, where they discovered Womack inside a parked vehicle. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Known affectionately as “Stunna,” Womack was a lifelong resident
of the Trenton area and was educated in the Trenton Public School System. He had earned his GED, an accomplishment of which he was very proud, and had gone on to become an entrepreneur, starting his own trucking company. Those who knew him described him as a unique individual with a distinct sense of style and charisma. While he could appear serious at first, he was known to be comical and was never afraid to speak his mind. He had a deep love for his family and his neighborhood of Paradise Avenue.
The investigation into Womack’s death was conducted by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Hamilton Police Division. Their efforts led them to a suspect, George A. Briscoe, a 31-year-old man from Edison. On Wednesday, October 6, 2021, Briscoe was apprehended in Edison by a team of law enforcement officers, including members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force, and officers from both the Hamilton and Edison police departments.
Following his arrest, George A. Briscoe was charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, and multiple weapons offenses in connection with the death of Dashawn Womack. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office announced the charges and filed a motion to detain Briscoe pending his trial. The motive for the fatal shooting and the nature of the relationship, if any, between Womack and Briscoe have not been publicly disclosed. The current status of the legal proceedings against Briscoe remains unresolved.
