In the early moments of a Thursday morning, the sound of gunfire pierced the air in the 1300 block of Baltic Avenue in Atlantic City. Responding to a ShotSpotter alert just after midnight on August 25, 2022, police discovered the body of 31-year-old Jordan Eaddy, a male from Philadelphia, who had been fatally shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Less than a week before his death, Eaddy had been arrested in Absecon for driving a stolen vehicle and had been released on a summons.
The investigation into Eaddy's homicide led authorities to two Atlantic City men: Aaron Callahan, then 32, and Kenneth Creek, then 47. Both men were charged with murder and related weapons offenses. Callahan was arrested without incident, but Creek remained a fugitive for a period of time and was considered armed and dangerous.
Callahan eventually pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a handgun. He admitted to giving the gun to Creek but claimed he was unaware of Creek's intention to kill anyone. Callahan was sentenced to a five-year term at the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility.
After his capture, Kenneth Creek's attorney argued that his client had acted in self-defense, claiming that Eaddy was also armed and had fired his weapon. A gun was reportedly found near Eaddy's hand at the scene. However, video footage presented at Creek's trial showed him shooting at Eaddy twice as he was trying to run away. The medical examiner testified that the fatal wound was to Eaddy's back. Following a seven-day trial, Creek was convicted of murder and in October 2024, was sentenced to 50 years in prison. Under the No Early Release Act, he will be required to serve at least 42 and a half years of his sentence.
