Police Officer Mark Anthony Sawyers, aged 30, tragically lost his life on June 5, 2004, after being shot the previous day while on duty in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Officer Sawyers had just completed investigating a traffic accident and was parked in his patrol car in a shopping center parking lot at 15 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue.
