On that Saturday evening, Brandon and his 17-year-old brother were in a back bedroom when a single gunshot was heard. When police arrived at the home in the Sterling Estates mobile home park, they found Brandon deceased. The firearm, which was reportedly kept in the home for protection, had been discharged, and the fatal wound was inflicted upon Brandon. His family and friends remembered him as a hardworking and giving individual who had stepped up to care for his siblings after significant family losses. He had reportedly taken on multiple jobs to provide for his two younger brothers, a responsibility he assumed after their mother passed away in 2012 and their father in 2021.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Brandon’s 17-year-old brother was taken into police custody as the primary suspect in the incident. The case was then turned over to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office to determine what, if any, charges would be filed against the teenager.
