In the early morning hours of December 15, 2006, in Lansing, Michigan, a sense of fear lingered in the apartment of 18-year-old Vanessa Kay Pruitt. Four months pregnant and a mother to three young children, Vanessa had been trying to distance herself from her boyfriend, Jeffrey Scott Husband. Fearing for her safety, she had asked her sister to stay with her for protection.
