In the winter of 2013 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a knock on a door in the 700 block of Neland SE abruptly turned into a scene of violence. Answering the door on January 8th, 18-year-old Gregory J. Woods, a Black/African American male, was met with gunfire and shot multiple times. He was privately transported to a local hospital, where he fought for his life for nearly a week before succumbing to his injuries on January 13, 2013.
