In the early morning hours of July 9, 2014, in Muskegon Heights, Michigan, 14-year-old Dmetrius Washington was found lying on the ground near the intersection of Hoyt Street and Hovey Avenue, the victim of a fatal shooting. The young man, who was poised to enter his sophomore year at Muskegon Heights Public School Academy, lived just a few blocks from where his body was discovered.
