On March 27, 2015, in Bellaire, Michigan, 63-year-old John Derek Tweedie died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a standoff with police. The incident began when law enforcement responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at Tweedie's residence. Upon arrival, officers found Tweedie barricaded inside his home, leading to a tense standoff. Despite efforts to negotiate a peaceful surrender, Tweedie took his own life before he could be apprehended.
