On February 21, 2016, Grantonio Roosevelt Phipps, a 23-year-old African American man, passed away at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. Born on November 5, 1992, in Flint, he was the son of Grant Peeples, Sr. and Artisha Phipps. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Mt. Morris, Michigan. Known to his friends and family as "Tone," he had previously graduated from Beecher High School and was attending ITT Technical Institute while working at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant.
