In the early morning hours of June 8, 2016, the life of 18-year-old Matthew Lyle McMillen was tragically cut short in a field in Springport Township, Michigan. He, along with his friend, 18-year-old Hunter Scott Lentz, was fatally shot by 53-year-old Tracy Lawrence outside of Lawrence's home. The incident initially appeared to be a case of a homeowner defending his property, but the subsequent investigation and legal proceedings painted a more complex and ultimately criminal picture.
