In the summer of 2016, a a tragedy struck the community of Buena Vista Township, Michigan, with the death of 17-year-old Joshua Javen Phillips. On the evening of July 26th, Joshua was discovered lying in the road in the 400 block of South 23rd Street, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound. His death was quickly ruled a homicide, launching an investigation by local law enforcement.
