Ranita Cannon, a 26-year-old mother from Detroit, Michigan, was tragically killed on September 25, 2016. The incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. on the eastbound James Couzens Freeway near West Eight Mile Road. Cannon was driving a burgundy 2008 Pontiac G5 with a male passenger when a dark-colored SUV pulled up alongside her vehicle and fired multiple shots into the car. Both Cannon and her passenger were struck several times, and Cannon succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
