On the night before Thanksgiving, November 23, 2016, Mehman Singh, a 31-year-old male, was working the late shift alone at the Log Cabin Party Store on the 500 Block of 4th Street in Jackson, Michigan. An immigrant from India who had come to the United States in search of a better life, he was known and well-liked within his community. His evening was violently disrupted when three men entered the store with the intent to rob it.
