In the winter of 2016, a young man's life was tragically cut short in Flint, Michigan. Demarious Kortez Spicer, a 22-year-old male, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. He was at Hurley Medical Center at the time of his death, which was the result of gun violence.
Demarious, known to some as 'Dezzel' or 'The Great One,' was born in Flint on October 5, 1994.
He was remembered as an intelligent young man who enjoyed telling jokes, playing video games, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Most importantly, he cherished caring for his two children, a daughter and a son. His family and friends gathered for his funeral service on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Church of Trinity Pentecostal, and he was laid to rest at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
The circumstances surrounding his death prompted a police investigation into what was deemed a homicide. He was reportedly killed at an apartment complex on the northeast side of Flint. Despite the investigation, years have passed without any publicly announced arrests or identification of suspects in connection with his murder. The case is considered unsolved, leaving his family and community without a sense of closure or justice for his untimely death. The profound silence from law enforcement in the years following has been a source of ongoing pain and frustration for those who knew and loved him.
