On a tragic Labor Day weekend, Algernon Moore, a 46-year-old man, lost his life in a fatal shooting on Saturday, September 2, 2017, in Detroit, Michigan. The incident that led to his death unfolded at a family gathering on Ward Street, where an argument escalated into a violent confrontation.
During the heated dispute, Moore's 17-year-old stepson, Jaden R. McCallum, allegedly brandished a handgun and shot his stepfather multiple times.
The teenager then fled the scene in a Dodge Charger, prompting a police search. Moore was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a grieving family and community.
Law enforcement officials launched an investigation into the shooting, and their efforts led to the apprehension of McCallum in the early hours of the following morning, around 1 a.m. on Sunday, in the 19700 block of Annchester Road in Detroit. Following his arrest, the Wayne County prosecutor's office brought charges against McCallum, including open murder and felony firearm. Jaden McCallum was arraigned and subsequently held in jail. He was scheduled for a probable cause hearing on September 25 of the same year.
