It was a grim end to a May night in 2018 when Erik Couch, a 48-year-old male, and his fiancée were ambushed at their home on Patton Street on Detroit's west side. In the early hours of May 30th, a knock came at the door. When it was answered, two masked men armed with handguns forced their way in, forever altering the lives of the family inside.
