On a summer afternoon in Trout Lake, Michigan, the life of 51-year-old Kevin Belonga, a male member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, was tragically cut short. On Saturday, August 11, 2018, at approximately 4:00 PM, law enforcement officers from the Michigan State Police Sault Ste. Marie Post were dispatched to a rental cabin in the quiet community. Inside, they discovered Mr. Belonga, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
