Brenda Renee Boyd-Johnson, a 59-year-old Black/African American female, was a cherished member of her Saginaw, Michigan community, known for her nurturing and spiritual nature. Having dedicated her life to helping others through a career in healthcare, she was a woman of faith and a member of Refuge Center Ministries. Born in Greenville, Mississippi, on July 16, 1960, she eventually moved to Saginaw, where she built a life filled with family and friends.
Tragedy struck on the evening of
November 1, 2019. Around 9:00 PM, Brenda and her husband, Larney Kim Johnson, were discovered in their home on South 17th Street, both having been fatally shot. The devastating event sent shockwaves through their neighborhood and the wider community, leaving loved ones to grapple with the sudden and violent loss.
The Saginaw Police Department's Major Case Unit promptly launched an investigation into the couple's deaths, ruling them as homicides. Despite their ongoing efforts and appeals to the public for information, the case has remained unsolved. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in the shooting deaths of Brenda Boyd-Johnson and her husband. The investigation remains open as authorities continue to seek justice for the couple.
