In the early hours of May 16, 2020, the life of Jari Jua Jaafar, a 42-year-old Black male, was cut short in his Clinton Township, Michigan apartment. Police were called to his residence on Hickory Lane just before 2 a.m. to investigate a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered the front door unlocked and the distinct smell of fresh gunpowder hanging in the air. Inside, they found Jaafar, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound.
