In the summer of 2020, the life of 18-year-old Shavonne Chanel Barnes, a young Black woman from Saginaw, Michigan, was tragically cut short. Known affectionately as 'Von Von,' she was a recent honors graduate from Saginaw High School's class of 2019, where she had been a dedicated member of the Girls Varsity Basketball Team.
