In December of 2020, the life of 28-year-old Amber Marie Walker of Galesburg, Michigan, was tragically cut short in a brutal act of violence. Her body was discovered in a lake in Richland Township on Monday, December 14, 2020, after she had been reported missing. The discovery launched a homicide investigation by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office.
An autopsy would later reveal the horrific details of her death; she had been shot in the face and then run over multiple times before her
body was concealed in the water. The investigation quickly led police to a person of interest. Chad Michael White, a 24-year-old from Kalamazoo, was soon taken into custody on unrelated charges while authorities built their case against him in connection with Walker's death. A key piece of evidence was the discovery of a gun in White's possession that matched the weapon used in the murder.
Following his arrest, Chad Michael White was charged with open murder and felony firearm. He was arraigned and held without bond at the Kalamazoo County Jail. In November 2021, a jury found White guilty of first-degree murder and felony firearm for the death of Amber Marie Walker. He was scheduled for sentencing the following month. Amber, a mother of two, was remembered by her family as a free spirit with a wonderful sense of humor.
