On a summer afternoon, the popular South Haven pier became the scene of a sudden and tragic act of violence that claimed the life of Charles 'Chuck' Skuza, a 73-year-old male. The Kalamazoo resident and his wife, Barb, were enjoying a day at South Beach on August 20, 2021, when a gunman opened fire, striking the couple in what authorities have described as a random attack. Mr. Skuza succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while his wife was critically wounded.
