In the spring of 2022, a quiet street on Detroit's east side became the scene of a sudden and tragic loss. On the evening of May 1st, Andre White, a 50-year-old man, was standing outside his home, engaged in a conversation with a friend. The familiar comfort of his surroundings was shattered when a vehicle, described as a light-colored sedan, approached. Gunshots rang out from the car, striking White and fatally wounding him. The vehicle then sped away, leaving behind a scene of shock and grief for a family and a community.

Andre White was remembered by his loved ones as a father and a husband, the youngest of eight siblings. His death, which occurred just months after he turned fifty, sent ripples of sorrow through his family. His wife was left to mourn a man with whom she had been looking forward to celebrating their first wedding anniversary in just a couple of months. For his brother and childhood best friend, the news of his violent end was a nightmare from which they couldn't wake. He was described as a positive influence, a 'father figure to many' who tried to keep those he cared about on the right path.

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Detroit Police Department began an investigation into the homicide. Authorities indicated that they were reviewing available surveillance footage in an effort to identify the person or persons responsible for Andre White's death. While details of a possible motive or any preceding argument were mentioned by police, the suspects remained at large. The community was left to grapple with the senseless violence that had claimed the life of a beloved family man in front of his own home.
