Meredith Don Moree, aged 49, tragically lost his life on April 24, 1996, in Jackson, Mississippi. Moree was a captain in the Jackson Fire Department and was one of the victims in a mass shooting at a firehouse. The perpetrator, Kenneth Tornes, was a fellow firefighter who had a history of grievances against his superiors. On the day of the incident, Tornes fatally shot four of his supervisors, including Moree, after killing his wife earlier that day.
