In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Greenwood, Mississippi, the life of Michael Daniel Barker was tragically cut short. On September 8, 2016, the 42-year-old man, who had spent the majority of his life in the Greenwood area after being born in Redwood City, California, was fatally shot in the chest. The violent encounter sent ripples of shock and concern through the Leflore County community.
