In the fall of 2017, the life of 19-year-old Davisha Harris was tragically cut short. On October 15th, the young, Black/African American woman was found deceased in an apartment in Lamar County, Mississippi, just outside of Hattiesburg. The cause of her death was determined to be a gunshot wound. Deputies from the Lamar County Sheriff's Department discovered her body just before noon that Sunday, marking the first homicide in the county for that year.
The investigation into Harris's death moved swiftly, and authorities quickly focused on a single suspect. Tracey Terrale Bullock, a 27-year-old man from McComb, Mississippi, was taken into custody on the very same day that Harris's body was found. Initially, he was held on a probation violation related to a prior conviction. However, his connection to the death of Davisha Harris soon became the primary focus of the investigation. It was revealed that Harris and Bullock were acquainted and had recently begun dating.
Following his arrest, Tracey Terrale Bullock was formally charged with the murder of Davisha Harris. During his initial court appearance the following Monday, he was ordered to be held without bond. Authorities identified Bullock as the sole suspect in the shooting, which took place at an apartment on Foxgate Avenue. The case then began its journey through the legal system, leaving a community to grapple with the violent loss of a young life.
