Greg Hawthorne, a 31-year-old resident of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was found dead on September 23, 2018. His death was ruled a homicide following preliminary autopsy results. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 2:30 a.m., when police responded to a report of a shooting at Hawthorne's home on Cypress Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered Hawthorne deceased inside his residence.
