On Christmas Day, December 25, 2018, a holiday gathering in the small town of Como, Mississippi, turned into a scene of tragedy for the family and friends of Tavashia Jamil Hale. The 27-year-old Black / African American female, affectionately known to her loved ones as "3 Tee," had traveled to the area to visit friends for the holiday celebration. A resident of Byhalia, Mississippi, and a 2009 graduate of H.W.
Byers High School, she was a mother of three children—a daughter named Aria and two sons, Jaylen and Cayden. In her community, she was known for her role as a praise dancer at the Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Cayce and worked as a cashier at a Domino’s Pizza in Collierville, Tennessee.
The festivities on Old Panola Road, just west of Como in Panola County, were shattered that afternoon by an outbreak of gunfire. According to law enforcement reports, the incident occurred in the 15300 block of the road, where Hale was struck by bullets approximately a dozen times. The severity of the attack left her with fatal wounds, and she died at the scene, marking a violent end to what was supposed to be a day of peace and celebration. Her sudden death shocked the local community and left her young children without their mother.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Panola County Sheriff’s Department launched a homicide investigation to identify the person responsible for the brutal slaying. Authorities quickly focused their attention on a suspect identified as Tevin Wink, who was 23 years old at the time of the incident. Deputies located and arrested Wink, taking him into custody in connection with Hale's death. While reports confirmed his arrest and the initial murder charge levied by the Sheriff's Department, further details regarding a trial verdict or sentencing have not been widely publicized in available records, leaving the narrative focused on the swift action taken by law enforcement to apprehend the accused shortly after the crime.
